The term Y Strainer / Y Type Strainer is originated from its’ constructional form. They could be both fabricated or casted as per choice. This variant is one of the most economical choices for removal of large amounts of debris from a process stream, eventually, are most commonly used. This variant bears the flexibility of being installed in either vertical or horizontal position, however, in both the scenarios the screening element holder part / leg must be kept on the downside of the strainer body so that entrapped solids can be properly collected and held for disposal.
Design: Basket Type
Range: 80 mm – 600 mm.
End Connection: Flanged, IS: 1538 / ANSI #125,
#150, #300 / Other Stds as per Requirement.
Pressure Rating: PN 10, PN 16, PN 25, PN 40 / ANSI #150, #300
Operation: Self.
This type of Strainers uses mesh type basket / straining element, fitted in an external housing / Strainer Body, hence the term Basket Strainer / Basket Type Strainer derived. This type of Strainers are designed to offer much higher filtration area compared to other types of Strainers and hence applied in the areas where relatively large amount of unwanted solids are expected in the process stream. The design allows easy clean-out of the Straining Element.
Design: Y Type, Cast / Fabricated
Range: 50 mm – 600 mm.
End Connection: Flanged, IS: 1538 / ANSI #125,
#150, #300 / Other Stds as per Requirement.
Pressure Rating: PN 10, PN 16, PN 25, PN 40 / ANSI #150, #300
Operation: Self.
This type of Strainer is basically a combination of two Basket Strainers, hence the term Duplex Strainer. These are also, know as Twin Basket Strainers. The system also contains a valve handle placed between the two baskets to divert the flow of liquid to one strainer while the other is being cleaned. These types of strainers are installed in pipeline systems where flow cannot be stopped. The design allows easy clean-out of the Straining Elements.
Design: Twin Basket Type / Duplex
Range: 50 mm – 600 mm.
End Connection: Flanged, IS: 1538 / ANSI #125,
#150, #300 / Other Stds as per Requirement.
Pressure Rating: PN 10, PN 16, PN 25, PN 40 / ANSI #150, #300
Operation: Self.
Suction Strainers are employed at the source of the media, hence the term Suction Strainer. A Suction Strainer is installed at the suction line's inlet to suspend debris from entering into the piping system at the very source. These are simple to construct.
Design: End Line
Range: 50 mm – 600 mm.
End Connection: Flanged, IS: 1538 / ANSI #125,
#150, #300 / Other Stds as per Requirement.
Pressure Rating: Not Applicable
Operation: Self.
